Independent Living Services
The Independent Living Program assists current and former foster care youth ages 13-23 in developing the skills necessary to make the transition from foster care to independent living.
For youth under 18, life skills training and individual assistance with issues such as employment, money management, education, health and housing is provided. After age 18, when a foster care youth transitions to into the community, case management services are available to youth to assist with emergency assistance, housing, education, financial support and linkages with other resources.
Assessment measures are provided to each youth using the Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment and the Daniel Memorial Independent Living Assessment. These tests identify individual skill areas that need to be developed to achieve the necessary independent living skills.
