Investing In Our Youth

July 28 2010

The Sherwin Williams Company represents a community partnership in action. Not only do they support the mission of Intervention Services, but they bring their talents, resources and expertise to help us achieve our mission as well. For our Independent Living (IL) youth, Sherwin Williams' commitment and resources have increased their opportunities for success. In April, ISI received a $5,000 grant for life skills training classes for youth ages 13 to 17. These classes combine curriculum training with "real-life" opportunities to learn skills. Training will teach skills rangingfrom money management and interviewing skills to social issues such as alcohol and nutrition. With this award, we have additional support in our efforts to better prepare IL youth for life on their own after leaving foster care.

Sherwin Williams' investment in our community extends beyond financial support. In April, a 15 member team painted the two houses of The Village, and Sara Moss, Regional Director of Operations, conducts weekly cooking classes at the Village.  Future ventures with Sherwin Williams include painting the Maitland Office, collecting supplies for our back to school drive and organizing "housewarming" projects for IL youth.

We are grateful to Sherwin Williams for their commitment to ISI and the children in our community!
